Rock, shortened by rock and roll (often referred to as rock n ‘roll or r’n’r), is a type of popular music, most often with vocals, electric and bass guitars, and accentuated, strong rhythms; Other instruments, such as saxophone, appear in some subgenres of rock.
As a cultural phenomenon, rock music influenced the world as none other – it is considered to be responsible for ending wars and spreading peace and tolerance, as well as spoiling the innocent and spreading moral rot. It is popular around the world and has evolved into a large number of very different styles.
The genre of rock music is broad and not strictly defined – the name rock is often used as a common name for a number of different subgenres from metal to soul. The term rock’n’roll is more often used for a specific type of rock from the 1950s and ’60s, and a shorter rock for the roof category.
Rock has its roots in the rhythms of blues, country music from the 1940s and 1950s. There is also the influence of ethnic music and jazz. The sound of rock originates from electric guitars, drums and keyboards. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, rock music developed in various subgenres. In combination with folk music, folk rock was created, in blues, blues rock was created, jazz rock formed with jazz. In the 1970s, rock received influences from soula, funk and latino rhythms. Also in the 1970s, rock developed a number of subgenres, such as: glam rock, hard rock, progressive rock, and punk rock. Rock subgenres that developed in the 1980s are: new wave and hardcore punk. In the 1990s, new subranges are: grunge, britpop, indie rock and nu metal.
The sound of rock is traditionally focused on an electric guitar that appeared in its modern form in the 1950s with the popularization of rock and roll. The sound of electric guitars in rock music is usually supported by an electric bass guitar, which was a pioneer in jazz music of the same age, and Percussions in which drums dominate, with which they sometimes appear and cymbals. This trio of instruments is often complemented by the inclusion of piano, Hammond and Synthesizer. A group of musicians interpreting rock music is called rock composition and consists mostly of two to five members.
Classically, the rock composition takes the form of a quartet whose members cover one or more roles, including singers, guitarists, rhythm guitarists, bass guitarists, drummers, and often keyboardists or other instrumentalists. Rock music has traditionally been built on the foundations of simple four-year rhythms with a drumstick impact on the second and fourth age – Backbeat. Melodies are often derived from older music modes like Dorian mode or Mixolydian, mostly with the violin keys.
Instruments play multi-sided, and the harmony is filled with quartets, quintas and dysonant harmonic progressions. Rock songs from the mid-1960s are often used in the Verse-chorus structure, originating from blues and folk music, but there has been a significant difference from this model. Critics emphasized the eclecticism and stylistic diversity of the rocks. Due to their complex history and tendency to borrow musical elements from other musical and cultural patterns, critics argued that “it is impossible to tie rock music to a rigidly named musical definition.”

With rock music, the amount of power that you can generate, the intensity behind the intentions of your lyrics that you can really reflect through rock music – you can’t do that in jazz. You can’t do that with classical.
